Background

Nigel King is an electrician in Norfolk with decades of experience. When he set up King Electrical Solutions with his brother, he was looking for a simple, single-page website to create a digital presence online and be found by residents and potential clients in his service areas within Norfolk.

Using our Launch Pad microsite services, Nigel provided us with information about his businesses and service, and we got down to business. From doing SEO research to learning more about the electrician trade (and learning more about the geography of Norfolk!), we set out to create a clear and simple single landing page website for the newly established King Electrical Solutions.

The Process

Starting a website from scratch meant a lot of decisions made, but here are a few implementations to create the perfect website for King Electrical Solutions.

#1 Trade Aesthetic

Nigel was clear on his business but open about design direction and aesthetic, and left the decision to us to find the best look for King Electrical Solutions. After some competitor research, we thought a bright and light aesthetic was appropriate to reflect any electrician's goal to keep the lights and electricity on for their clients. As a result, we used a brightly lit open kitchen as the hero image to demonstrate that King Electrical Solutions will keep your power running.

#2 Localisation Research

Since King Electrical Solutions is based in Norfolk, we checked local competitors as well as conducted research to see which were the most popular towns within Norfolk to use for targeted localisation. As a London-based consultancy, we weren't familiar with Norfolk geography, so had to take a self-taught crash course to ensure we hit the right locations.

#3 Anchors as Webpages

We recommend our clients have a minimum of 5 webpages, but we understand if they are unable to at the start. King Electrical Solutions wanted a single-page website, but to create the illusion of a bigger website, we used anchors and blocks to create a functioning navigation bar. Even though it was all one long landing page, the segmentation created the illusion of a bigger sitemap, which helps with dividing content and creating the impression of a bigger operation.

#4 Mobile Optimisation

We know many people are doing their research on the go, whether it's on the commute to work or a sneaky peek in the office. With every website we create, we ensure it is mobile optimised, so mobile users as well as those who use technology such as screen readers are able to enjoy the same web experience as those using a desktop or laptop.

#5 SEO Optimisation

Due to the localised nature of King Electrical Solutions' business, we wanted to ensure it was optimised to be visible for key searches such as "24/7 Electrician in Norfolk". We ensured the website was search engine optimised and submitted it to Google Search Consule. The result? King Electrical Solutions is on the first page organically when using that search term, guaranteeing good visibility for those who need their services.
